Amp Up Your Style | Capsule Wardrobes and Apps

FOX LANE MARKET delves into Tips for Organizing your closet and creating Capsule Wardrobes to increase the number of outfits to choose from!  Let's get into it! And SHOP my Spring Super Sale for great savings through the end of March!

TIP 1:  TIDY + SORT

It's Spring!  It's still kinda chilly out there, so use your time indoors to re-familiarize yourself with your clothing and accessories.  Marathon it or choose a few categories of clothing to split the process into several days.  Grab some laundry baskets, boxes and trash bags to separate maybes, giveaways, donations and trash.  Try using the same styles of hangers to dress up your closet!  If your closet is small, use narrow hangers - you'd be surprised at how much space you can loose.  Once organized, your closet will provide a sense of calm and make it much easier to mix and create new outfits!

Super anxious and apprehensive about cleaning and organizing?  Here is a MUST READ book, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering & Organizing.  Author, Marie Kondo simplifies the process on the premise of recognizing items that "Spark Joy" and those that don't!  Her book is an International Best Seller that has transformed thousands and thousands of her client's and reader's lives.

TIP 2:  TIME TO ORGANIZE, CATEGORIZE + GROUP

Categorize your clothing into specific groups. Sort into groups by categories - TOPS: shells, tanks, short sleeved blouses, long sleeved blouses, light weight sweaters, heavier sweaters, long cardigans, jackets.  BOTTOMS: skirts, slacks, jeans, capris, shorts, activewear shorts, activewear tops, active wear warmups, activewear jackets, etc.  EVENING / DRESSY WEAR: Jumpsuits, Dresses, Skirts  Then, sort from light to dark.  I personally sort out my closet like this and it definitely helps!

TIP 3:  THE CAPSULE WARDROBE

Capsule Wardrobes have been growing in popularity! I discovered Christie Ressel, a popular stylist, who navigates clients with In-Person, as well as Online Services and Courses on her website, Fashion Translated: Christie Ressel, Rise Through Style who is a guru on this topic.  Her effervescent, upbeat take on fashion, beauty and lifestyle provides women with A-HA moments on fashion.  Capsule Wardrobes are based around how you spend your time, functionality, and color.  This system will help increase the number of outfits to wear, save money, and develop a stylish wardrobe built around your lifestyle!  Be sure to check out Christie's YouTube channel for fabulous tips on achieving this goal and elevating your style!  Here is the link for her awesome video on Capsule Wardrobes.

TIP 4: VIRTUAL CLOSET APPS

For tech loving fashionistas or frazzled wardrobe swayers, here are a few apps that catalogue, plan, inspire AND create randomized outfits!  These apps have cool features which catalogue clothing (yours and online images), categorize, color tag, track what you've worn, create randomized looks from your wardrobe, allows you to create mood boards, LookBooks, social sharing, shopping and more!  Super fun if you have the time or if you waste a lot of time determining "what shall I wear today?  I have nothing to wear!!!"

TIP 5: SHOPPING

View some Capsule Wardrobe videos first.  Then, set-up a Pinterest board and spend time Pinning seasonal looks and styles that you love.  You'll notice styles and key colors you are drawn towards to define what to hone in on while shopping.  Then do choose one or two floral or multi-color pieces and then select bottoms, jean color, a jacket, a skirt, a few basic tees and shells, that coordinate with the blouse.  Take this item(s) shopping or pull a photo of it up on your new App and/or device to compare colors, tone and style.  This is a great guide for building a "new wardrobe capsule" and by doing so will increase the number of outfits for you to wear!

NOW, GO MAKE YOURSELF A NEW WARDROBE CAPSULE!
